Comparison of N95 vs KF94 Rating Standards

Comparing the rating standards of the Korean mask KF94 with the U.S. N95, there are four summaries.

1. Dust collection efficiency refers to the rate at which a mask filters out dust when a person breathes air. N95 filters 95% and KF94 filters dust more than 94%.

2. However, the N95 mask only has to pass the sodium chloride (NaCl) particle blocking test, but KF94 must pass both the sodium chloride (NaCl) and the paraffin oil (Paraffin oil) tests.

3. Therefore, N95-grade masks are not suitable for blocking liquid particles other than yellow dust and fine dust.

4. KF94 has established standards to block not only yellow dust, fine dust, but also liquid particles such as saliva and secretions, so it can be found to be more effective in preventing infections of respiratory or infectious diseases.
